# Florent Di Marino: Precision, Curiosity and a Global Perspective
## From Chemistry to Perfumery
Florent Di Marino grew up in the French Alps, surrounded by forests, mountain air and the changing scents of nature. His path into perfumery began while he was studying chemistry in southern France. During an experiment, an aroma chemical filled the laboratory with the smell of freshly cut grass. That moment revealed fragrance as a medium in which science and imagination could meet.
Di Marino studied at ISIPCA in Versailles and continued his training at IFF, where he worked closely with perfumers including Anne Flipo and Aliénor Massenet. His career later took him from France to Singapore and, in 2024, to the Symrise Fine Fragrance team in Shanghai. These different cultural and olfactory environments have become an important source of inspiration for his work.
## Creative Method and Notable Work
Di Marino combines curiosity with a highly methodical approach. He treats structure and discipline as essential partners to creativity, using precise construction to translate memories, ingredients and cultural impressions into fragrance. His portfolio includes work for L'Artisan Parfumeur, Roger & Gallet, Jo Malone London, Mith, Nonfiction and Scent Journer.
Among his notable creations are *Champ de Fleurs* and *Mont de Narcisse* for L'Artisan Parfumeur, as well as *Clouds In Heaven* for Scent Journer. For [Cola Addict](/perfume/borntostandout-cola-addict), created with Philippine Courtière, he explores an energetic gourmand composition built around sparkling cola, citrus peel, spices, rum, caramel and woods.
