Buxton studied at Haarmann & Reimer's perfumery school and later worked for Symrise. He gained fame for creating iconic fragrances for Comme des Garçons, including their debut scent and Comme des Garçons 2. Buxton has also developed perfumes for prestigious brands like Givenchy, Versace, and Burberry. In 2008, he launched his own niche perfume line, now called Mark Buxton Perfumes. Known for his innovative and unconventional approach, Buxton's style often incorporates unique notes like ink, rhubarb, and osmanthus. He draws inspiration from street culture, different towns, and culinary experiences.
